Mini steam engines return to Poole Quay

Mini steam engines will return to Poole Quay this spring for a waterfront heritage event.

Mini Steam on the Quay will bring miniature steam engines back to the town this Saturday (2 May), giving visitors the chance to see the machines up close and take rides on selected engines during the day.

The event is organised by Anna Doyle and Michelle Smith as part of the wider Poole Quay Events programme, with support for a second year from Poole BID and new supporting sponsorship from Hall and Woodhouse.

Jacqui Rock, CEO of Poole BID, said events like this help bring “energy and activity into the town” while encouraging people to spend time on the Quay and support local businesses.

Anthony Woodhouse, Chairman of Hall and Woodhouse, said the company was pleased to support the event for the first time, describing it as “a unique event that celebrates heritage”.

Organisers Anna Doyle and Michelle Smith said steam engines continue to capture people’s imagination, adding that it is “wonderful to see visitors of all ages enjoying them up close”.

The event is expected to bring families, enthusiasts and visitors to Poole Quay as part of the area’s seasonal events programme.
