New diagnostic centre planned at Poole Hospital

Plans have been submitted for a new community diagnostic centre at Poole Hospital.

The proposal would replace underused buildings at the Shaftsbury House site with a modular facility designed to house MRI and CT scanner rooms along with staff areas, patient support spaces and improved pedestrian access.

Planning documents say the development would allow scans and other procedures to take place in a modern building equipped with updated technology as part of the Dorset Community Diagnostic Centre programme.

The scheme also includes changes to access and parking around the site, with 5 parking spaces removed and 1 accessible space repositioned, while existing cycle parking facilities would remain unchanged.

Remedial work is also expected to be carried out on the façade of an adjacent building following demolition works linked to the project.

The proposal forms part of plans to establish Poole Hospital as a Community Diagnostic Centre hub for East Dorset, with consulting rooms and offices currently at the site expected to be relocated elsewhere.

The plans are open for public consultation until 25 March under planning application P/26/00482/FUL.
