Care Dorset homes report high occupancy

Occupancy at Care Dorset residential homes has risen to more than 90%.

Managing director Chris Best told councillors at a shareholders meeting that overall occupancy across contracted residential beds now stands at 91%, with 2 of the organisation’s 5 homes fully occupied.

He said the figure represents an increase of nearly 9% compared with the previous 3 month reporting period, showing the organisation is continuing to move in a positive direction operationally and strategically.

One home currently below the average is The Lawns in Fernhill Avenue in Weymouth, where occupancy is around 63% due to refurbishment work and a recent period without a permanent manager.

Mr Best also reported that day services are performing as expected and the organisation plans to recruit a programme manager to oversee further changes to services following a consultation with people who use them.

The reablement service has also been performing strongly, with 90% of people completing their programme without needing an increase to their care package.

Care Dorset is a council owned trading company providing care services across 22 locations in Dorset.
