BCP seeks independent member for committee
BCP Council is inviting applications for an independent member to join its audit committee.
The role will support the council’s audit and governance committee, which monitors governance, risk management and financial matters across the authority to help improve performance and maintain strong standards of openness and accountability.
The successful applicant will serve a 2 year term on the committee and will receive an annual allowance of £1239, bringing independent oversight and professional experience to discussions around council governance.
Applicants are expected to have senior level experience in business management along with knowledge of corporate governance, and should be analytical, demonstrate high integrity and be able to challenge constructively while holding officers to account.
Independent members cannot be part of a political party or have a close relationship with any councillor or council officer, and while they take part in discussions they are not able to vote on committee decisions.
Anyone interested in applying is asked to email up to 1000 words outlining their skills, knowledge and experience to audit@bcpcouncil.gov.uk by March 15 2026.
