East Cliff groyne repairs now complete
New timber groynes have been completed at East Cliff following repair work along the seafront.
Two groynes were finished on East Cliff Beach in December 2025 as part of a wider two year programme to renew seven ageing structures between East Cliff and Boscombe, with work planned around the condition of each existing groyne.
Heavy machinery used for the East Cliff work is now being moved to Boscombe Beach, where replacement of two timber groynes immediately east of Boscombe Pier is scheduled to begin from 5 January.
Contractor site huts are expected to be relocated from East Cliff to the promenade edge at Boscombe Beach on 6 and 7 January, with work taking place daily between 7am and 7pm.
The replacement of these two Boscombe groynes is expected to continue until next year, with further work planned to restart in the autumn and winter of next year to replace three groynes west of Boscombe Pier.
Boscombe Beach and the promenade will remain open to the public over the Christmas break.
