Boscombe flats scheme set for approval
A proposal for twenty two new flats in Bournemouth is expected to be approved with conditions when councillors consider the plans at a forthcoming planning committee meeting.
The application, submitted by Clifftop Development Ltd, relates to Purbeck Court 65-67 Boscombe Overcliff Drive, Bournemouth, BH5 2EN and seeks outline permission to demolish the existing flats and replace them with a six storey building.
Plans show the development would include seventeen two bedroom flats and five three bedroom flats, along with underground parking and shared leisure facilities including a swimming pool, gym and spa complex.
The council received forty eight letters of objection, with most coming from properties within a mile of the site, raising concerns about overdevelopment, traffic impact, building size, design and cliff stability.
Planning permission was previously granted last year for a smaller scheme on the site, involving a five storey building with fewer flats and associated access and parking.
Officers have recommended approval subject to conditions and a Section one zero six agreement, covering matters such as demolition arrangements, construction management, materials, and environmental and affordable housing contributions.
The proposal was delayed from a November meeting due to an administrative error affecting notification letters, and councillors were told a new system is now in place to prevent a repeat.
The application is scheduled to be decided by the eastern planning committee on December 18th.
