BCP launches homelessness consultation
A public consultation has opened on plans to reduce homelessness across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole over the next five years.
The draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy sets out measures to make homelessness brief, rare and unrepeatable, following a local rise in assessments since 2020 driven by rising rents, limited social housing and increasing support needs.
The strategy focuses on prevention, shorter stays in temporary accommodation, stronger tenancy support, public education and ensuring lived experience shapes all decisions.
Councillor Steve Robinson said the aim is for people to understand their rights and receive the right support at the right time.
The plan will be delivered with the BCP Homelessness Partnership, involving charities, health services, housing associations and individuals with lived experience.
Residents can take part in the consultation on the council’s Have Your Say page until February.
