Van collides with low railway bridge closing Lake Road in Poole

In Poole, Lake Road is closed both ways after a van hit a low railway bridge near the junction with Coles Avenue at Hamworthy.

Emergency services have advised people to avoid the area whilst the situation is made safe.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service told Bournemouth One they were called at 3:58pm today with reports of a road traffic collision.

“Two fire engines were mobilised, Hamworthy and Poole, and on arrival found one van had hit a low railway bridge.  Crews are working to make the scene safe and Network Rail have been contacted regarding damage to the bridge.

“A road closure is in place and a diversion has been set up. No casualties have been reported at this time.”
