A 50 metre scarf knitted in Poole will feature in a new family stage show.
Betty and the Yeti, based on the picture book by Dorset writer Ella Burfoot, will premiere at The Sherling Studio, Lighthouse Poole, from Saturday 24 to Friday 30 October, with Dorset actor Remi Oriogun-Williams appearing.
The Crafty Ladies, who meet each Thursday at Lighthouse, made the scarf locally after hearing it was needed, with one member contributing 24 metres and delivering it on a trolley.
Residents at Evergreen Care Home in Winton also joined the knitting, while children at primary schools in Bournemouth and Wincanton helped develop songs, humour and ideas used in the production.
Angel Exit directors Lynne Forbes and Tamsin Fessey said the community aspect was “central to everything we do” and described the Crafty Ladies as a vital part of their work.
The production for children aged 3 to 8 follows Betty as she investigates large footprints in the snow, meeting singing polar bears and an Arctic hare while exploring friendship, fear and judging others through puppetry, songs, interactive sections and slapstick humour.
