Poole concert to support RNLI lifeguards

A major choral concert in Poole will raise funds for the RNLI’s life-saving work.

Bournemouth Symphony Chorus will join Bath Minerva Choir at Lighthouse on Saturday, July 11, marking the 25th anniversary year of RNLI Lifeguards.

The gala will celebrate the sea through music, including Britten’s Four Sea Interludes and Vaughan Williams’s A Sea Symphony.

The programme will also include the world première of Paul Carr’s setting of the RNLI Lifeboat Prayer, Beacon of Hope. The combined choirs will perform with the Salomon Orchestra and soloists Sophie Bevan MBE and Gareth Brynmor John, conducted by Gavin Carr.

Bournemouth Symphony Chorus said it wanted to mark the lifeguards’ anniversary in Poole, home to the RNLI headquarters, while raising money for the charity.

Composer Paul Carr said lifeboat crews become a “beacon of hope” when they respond to emergencies at sea.

RNLI Chief Fundraising Officer Jayne George said RNLI Lifeguards have helped millions of people and saved more than 2,000 lives. The concert takes place at Lighthouse Poole, with tickets available through the venue.
