Poole Holes Bay Vets for Pets has expanded its practice to support growing local demand.
The surgery has more than doubled in size after Practice Owner Dr Dan Makin invested in an extension and new mezzanine level, creating more room for clinical work, equipment and staff facilities at the site.
Dr Makin bought the practice in 2018, when it was known as Companion Care Poole and operated from a 1,300 square foot space with one permanent vet, 2 registered veterinary nurses, a student nurse and 4 receptionists.
The practice now employs 6 permanent vets, 7 registered veterinary nurses, a student veterinary nurse, 2 animal care assistants and 7 receptionists, with the expansion intended to give the larger team more space to support pets and their owners.
New facilities include 5 consultation rooms, separate X-ray and dental X-ray rooms, an additional operating theatre, larger preparation and laboratory areas, and a new cat ward.
Dr Makin said the practice had “grown alongside the community it serves” and the work was intended to help it continue providing care while improving diagnostic facilities.

He added that the extension had also created improved areas where colleagues could “rest and recharge”.
The practice remains based at Holes Bay and continues to provide veterinary care for pets and owners across Poole.
