A new Viking themed world has opened at Paultons Park in Hampshire for families and teenagers.
Valgard: Realm of the Vikings has been created on the western side of the park and includes Drakon, the first inverting rollercoaster at Paultons Park, with 2 upside down twists and a vertical lift hill.
The area also includes Vild Swing, described as a UK first ride, which takes riders 12 metres into the air, along with Raven, the former Cobra rollercoaster which has been rethemed as a bobsled style adventure.
A Viking themed playground has also opened, alongside a new Feasting Hall restaurant, which includes a life size Viking longship dining experience for families visiting the park.
Marketing and technology director Lawrence Mancey said it was “a massive moment” to have a rollercoaster at Paultons that goes upside down twice.
He added that the park wanted to offer returning visitors something new, while showing that Paultons is not only aimed at young children.
Deputy managing director James Mancey said Valgard “marks the start of an exciting new era for Paultons Park” as it grows its appeal for older children and teenagers.
A new custom built MACK Rides water coaster, Serpent’s Curse, is also planned for Valgard in 2027, with twists, curves and a plunge into the lake below.
