Rare rock photos to go on show in Poole

Rare live music photographs from the 1980s and 1990s are going on show at Drax Studio.

Rock Legends Live: Zoe Wilson opens on Thursday 21 May and features 35mm images taken front of stage between 1987 and 1992, during a major period for live music and performance photography.

The exhibition includes artists such as Prince, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Depeche Mode and Annie Lennox, with images captured by Zoe Wilson during their live performances.

The archive had remained unseen for 4 decades and has now been reworked as contemporary fine art, turning what is described as “lost media” into collectable editions and one of one pieces.

Several images are being shown publicly for the first time, alongside large format mixed media works created specifically for the exhibition at Drax Studio.

The works use finishes including framed print, glass, aluminium, Chromaluxe, diamond dust and glitter gloss, while keeping the immediacy of the original performances.

Pieces will be available to buy during the exhibition, including limited editions, one of one works and smaller collector items such as the limited edition THAT SHOT book.

Guests will also be able to discuss bespoke commissions and alternative finishes directly with Zoe Wilson during the residency.
