A Poole entrepreneur has launched a new website designed to simplify finding activities across Dorset.
Helena Prager created UK Activity Breaks after experiencing the frustration of searching through multiple websites and social media pages to organise leisure activities and days out.
The platform brings together hundreds of Dorset experiences in one online directory, covering everything from kayaking and woodland retreats to axe throwing and wild swimming spots.
Helena said the idea was inspired by what she describes as “activity planning fatigue”, where people spend large amounts of time searching for ideas before giving up and returning to familiar routines instead.
She said: “I knew the experiences were out there, but finding them, comparing them, and actually booking felt like a part-time job.
“I built the platform I kept wishing existed: one place where you can find a date night, a kids’ drizzly Saturday plan, or a solo micro-adventure without the stress of endless searching.”
The website is designed to help both Dorset residents and visitors discover activities they may not otherwise come across.
Alongside helping consumers, the platform also aims to support smaller independent activity providers, many of whom compete against larger national booking companies with bigger advertising budgets.
Helena’s research suggested many people only discover a small number of the experiences available locally, despite Dorset offering a wide range of outdoor and leisure activities.
The directory is free for people to browse, with local businesses encouraged to submit their own listings as the platform continues to expand.
