My First Ballet Cinderella arrives Poole
Young audiences can experience a specially adapted version of Cinderella when ballet arrives in Poole.
English National Ballet is bringing its touring production My First Ballet: Cinderella to Lighthouse Poole on 18 and 19 April, presenting a shortened and accessible version of the classic story created especially for children aged 3 and above.
The production follows nature loving Cinderella who lives beside an enchanted forest where she once spent time gardening and singing with her mother, before family loss leaves her living with a sharp tongued stepmother and 2 noisy stepsisters.
Her life changes when an invitation arrives for the Garden Ball, setting her on a journey of discovery guided by the spirit of her mother and the magic of the surrounding forest.
Choreographed by George Williamson and performed by English National Ballet School students and Graduate Artists Programme participants, the production includes a narrator and a shortened version of Prokofiev’s score to help younger audiences follow the story.
Aaron S Watkin, Artistic Director of English National Ballet, said the series “opens the doors of ballet to young audiences” while offering an introduction to the artform that has already been enjoyed by more than 370000 people since the programme began in 2012.
