Finance director thanked at Council meeting
Councillors have thanked BCP Council’s Director of Finance, Adam Richens, for 40 years of public service as he attended his final full council meeting.
Tributes were paid during the authority’s budget setting meeting on 24 February, recognising his long career with BCP Council and its predecessor authorities.
Councillor Mike Cox, Cabinet Member for Finance, said Adam Richens had given “an extraordinary 40 years of dedicated service” and had devoted his professional life to public service. He added that his advice had been invaluable in shaping a balanced budget since 2023 and supporting the organisation through periods of uncertainty.
Councillor Cox said his clarity and leadership had left a lasting impact on the council and thanked him on behalf of colleagues, councillors and communities across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
The council agreed to appoint Matthew Filmer as interim Director of Finance and Section 151 officer.
