Initio chief executive to retire in August

Schools across Wimborne, Colehill and Poole are preparing for a leadership change as Liz West steps down as chief executive of Initio Learning Trust.

The Trust runs Allenbourn Middle School, Colehill First School, Hayeswood First School, Pamphill CE First School, Queen Elizabeth’s School, St John’s CE First School, St Michael’s CE Middle School and Witchampton CE First School, along with Lockyer’s Middle School, Corfe Hills School and Merley First School, plus more across Dorset.

Ms West will leave her role at the start of the summer term and retire at the end of August after 11 years leading the organisation. During that time, the Trust has grown from seven schools to 19.

In a letter to parents and carers, she said serving as CEO had been “the greatest privilege” of her professional life, but added that she felt “now is the right time” to hand over to a successor.

An interim CEO will be appointed from within the senior leadership team for around 18 months to ensure continuity during consultation and transition. Ms West will support the handover before formally retiring.

She said she leaves confident in the Trust’s future direction.
