Dorset women’s football tournament expands
Women’s and girls’ football in Dorset will step into the spotlight this summer.
The DFL Women and Girls Tournament is returning for a second year, with organisers confirming an expanded format that includes a new Under 18s girls’ category alongside the existing women’s competition at the Dorset County Ground in Hamworthy, Poole on Sunday 28 June 2026.
Building on its first event in 2025, which drew teams from across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset, the tournament will once again bring together clubs from across the county and neighbouring areas for a full day of competitive fixtures and grassroots development.
Tournament organiser Justyn Roberts said last year’s event highlighted the demand for women’s football locally, adding that introducing an Under 18s category was a natural next step and part of Dorset Football League’s commitment to support clubs looking to establish women’s teams.
Throughout the day, matches, results and league tables will be available live through the Tournify App, while refreshments, entertainment and trophy presentations are planned to create a welcoming environment for players, families and supporters.
Local businesses are also being invited to sponsor the event as Dorset Football League aims to strengthen opportunities and visibility for women’s and girls’ football across the county.
