A stage adaptation of a classic thriller arrives in Poole for a limited run.
The Talented Mr Ripley visits Lighthouse Poole in March as part of its first UK and international tour, continuing its schedule into 2026 ahead of a planned West End transfer following strong audience demand during performances last year.
Ed McVey, Maisie Smith and Bruce Herbelin-Earle reprise their roles as Tom Ripley, Marge Sherwood and Dickie Greenleaf, telling the story of a chance opportunity that takes Ripley from obscurity into a wealthy social circle with unsettling consequences.
Set in nineteen fifties Italy, the production explores themes of ambition, identity and deception, as Ripley becomes increasingly consumed by the lifestyle he encounters, leading to a chain of events that steadily tightens around him.
Adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher, the play is based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel and features a full creative team spanning design, movement and sound, with producer Thomas Hopkins describing the continued tour as “incredibly rewarding” after audiences embraced the production across the UK and Ireland.
