Adults get soft play night in Christchurch

Adults in Christchurch are being invited to use a large soft play space after hours.

Diverse Abilities is opening the former Adventure Wonderland soft play area exclusively for adults for the first time, with an evening event planned next month at The Treehouse in Merritown Lane, offering access to slides, bridges and obstacles in a setting usually reserved for children.

The event, called Big Kid Energy, will take place on Friday 6 February in the evening, and follows repeated requests from residents since the charity moved into the former Adventure Wonderland site, which was acquired in early 2024 to support the expansion of local services.

Head of Marketing and Events Cat Abbott said many people had asked for an adult session and described it as a chance to spend time with friends and “act like a big kid”, while also supporting the charity’s work across the county.

Music from the 1980s through to the 2000s will be played, with space set aside for social games, and the event is sponsored by local radio station Bournemouth One.
