Broadstone volunteer wins hero award now
Andrew Kenway has been named the first Local Hero Award winner for Mid Dorset and North Poole after being recognised for his contribution to community life.
The award, launched by Vikki Slade MP, is designed to highlight individuals and organisations whose everyday actions help strengthen communities across the constituency, with a focus on work that often happens quietly and without public recognition.
Andrew was selected for his long standing commitment to Broadstone and nearby areas, where he plays a central role in organising community flag displays for St George’s Day and Remembrance Day, helps coordinate the Broadstone Christmas lights, and runs the Broadstone Youth Club, offering a safe and supportive space for young people.
Alongside these roles, he is known locally for stepping in whenever help is needed, supporting events and residents behind the scenes, and helping ensure community activities run smoothly throughout the year.
Vikki Slade MP said Andrew cares deeply about Broadstone and its residents, adding that if something needs doing and he can help, he will.
The award was presented to Andrew in recognition of his service, with thanks passed on from residents across Mid Dorset and North Poole for his continued dedication.
