New organisation set to boost local tourism
A new independent organisation has been created to strengthen and promote the tourism sector across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.
‘Bournemouth and Poole Tourism’ has been launched by the Destination Management Board, working with Christchurch Town Council, to lead the region’s £1.3 billion visitor economy with a more resilient and industry-led approach.
The change follows Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s decision to step back from destination marketing. To prevent the loss of key digital platforms, the Board appointed local agency Soul Motion to take over management of the official tourism websites, safeguarding online assets that last year attracted more than three million page views and 1.3 million unique visitors.
The new organisation will now oversee these websites and their social media brands — Love Bournemouth, Love Poole and Love Christchurch — reaching millions of people each year.
Andy Lennox, Chair of the Destination Management Board, said this marks a fresh start for tourism after a challenging period, with the new model “led by business for business.”
Local firms are being invited to join the Bournemouth and Poole Tourism Partnership Scheme, which offers enhanced listings, advertising opportunities and inclusion in future marketing campaigns.
The DMO will operate on a sustainable hybrid model funded by private partnerships and commercial income, designed to deliver long-term growth and support the region’s visitor economy throughout the year.
