New owner takes helm at Da Vinci’s
Da Vinci’s Italian Restaurant on Poole Quay is beginning a new era as long-time team member Gennaro becomes its new owner.
Gennaro, who joined the restaurant more than ten years ago, has worked his way from waiter to assistant manager and later restaurant manager. At the age of 32, he has now taken ownership of the waterfront restaurant, which has been a fixture on the Quay since 1993.
Originally from Naples, Gennaro said taking over Da Vinci’s feels like the next step in a journey that began when he first moved to Poole. “Da Vinci’s has always been more than just a restaurant to me,” he said. “It’s where I learned the art of hospitality and became part of the community.”
Under his ownership, Da Vinci’s will continue to serve its well-known menu of classic Italian dishes, alongside a few new specials inspired by his roots. One of them, the Linguine Crazy Alfredo, has also inspired a community initiative. For every order of the dish, Da Vinci’s will donate a free meal to MyTime Young Carers, giving local young carers the chance to enjoy a night out.
Gennaro, a father of three, said the idea was a way to give something back to those who spend their time helping others. “Every plate served helps create a little moment of happiness for someone who really deserves it,” he added.
