Residents, businesses and visitors across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being asked to help shape the area’s first Heritage Strategy through a public consultation launched by BCP Council.
The draft strategy aims to safeguard and celebrate the region’s heritage, from historic buildings and parks to local traditions and community stories, ensuring its value for future generations.
It sets out priorities such as improving access to heritage opportunities, protecting cultural and natural assets, supporting learning and volunteering, and using heritage to support regeneration and economic growth.
Councillor Andy Martin said the strategy outlines how the community can work together to celebrate and protect heritage while supporting wellbeing and economic prosperity.
Councillor Richard Herrett highlighted the importance of heritage in the local identity and visitor economy, encouraging people to share their views.
The consultation is open until 6 September 2026.
