Plans to transform Poole’s Baiter skate park have been submitted for planning approval by BCP Council.
The proposals would see the existing skate park, which first opened in 1999, replaced with a modern concrete facility through a £400,000 investment from the council’s Plan for Play programme. The new design has been shaped by local skaters working alongside Maverick Skateparks and includes street features, transition elements and open spaces intended to support all ages, abilities and wheeled sports.
Councillor Sandra Moore described the planning submission as “a significant milestone” towards creating a skate park fit for the future. She said the project had been “co-created” with the community and would provide something for everyone, from beginners to experienced riders.
Maverick Skateparks Director Russ Holbert said local people’s “passion, ideas and memories” had helped create a design that respects the site’s history while looking ahead to future generations.
The project forms part of BCP Council’s £4.6 million Plan for Play strategy, which aims to improve around 120 play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
The application will now be considered through the normal planning process, with comments invited on planning application P/26/02919/FUL.
