Teen sought after Southbourne beach fight

Police are seeking a teenage girl following an assault captured on CCTV in Southbourne.

Around 70 local teenagers gathered at Fisherman’s Walk on Friday evening when council CCTV operators recorded an incident involving a group of girls attacking another female believed to be around 16 years old. The victim was reported to be dressed entirely in black and wearing dark grey fluffy boots.

Officers were deployed to the beach in significant numbers after the incident was reported. However, the girl left the area on foot shortly before police arrived, and investigators are now keen to locate her to ensure she is safe and receives any support she may need.

Police say one female suspect was detained and identified following the disturbance, while enquiries remain ongoing to identify other people believed to have been involved. Anyone who knows the victim, or who has information that could assist the investigation, is being asked to contact officers quoting reference 55260087314.

CCTV footage from the gathering also showed a number of young people allegedly consuming nitrous oxide, cannabis and alcohol. Several individuals were dealt with by officers in relation to those offences during the evening.

Police are urging parents and carers to take a closer interest in where their teenagers are spending time and who they are with, particularly when attending large gatherings on local beaches.

The group was dispersed, with police patrols and BCP Council CCTV continuing to monitor the area throughout the evening.
