Air Festival return ruled out if precept rises

Air Festival return ruled out if precept rises

Bournemouth Town Council will not bring back Bournemouth Air Festival if doing so significantly increases the town council precept.

The festival was last held in 2024 after BCP Council stopped funding it to help balance its budget.

The event previously attracted large crowds to the seafront and featured aircraft displays, Royal Navy involvement, entertainment and fireworks.

Councillor Mark Anderson, leader of the Bournemouth Reform group, said he would like to see the festival return but not if it added hundreds of pounds a year to residents’ bills.

The current Bournemouth Town Council precept is £29.51 for a Band D household.

Reform has said it wants to keep the precept as low as possible while supporting local priorities such as Remembrance events and Christmas lights.
