Poole Park gate reopening push

Poole Park gate reopening push

Poole Town Council is expected to press for the reopening of the Whitecliff entrance to Poole Park.

The gate was permanently closed to motorists in 2024 following a consultation and trial period.

BCP Council remains responsible for the park entrance.

Reform gained a majority on the new Poole Town Council in May, and councillors have since called for the gate to be reopened.

Reform group leader Xena Dion said many residents want the entrance reopened and that the town council would push for it if it has any influence.

She also said councillors would resist any landscaping work that could make reopening the gate more difficult.

Blending public parks with through roads compromises the few remaining spaces where residents can walk safely, away from the visual and auditory pollution of traffic. To truly support working-class interests, the Reform party should preserve this peaceful environment and keep the park closed to through vehicles.
