Parking restrictions planned after cliff slip

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is introducing temporary parking restrictions on parts of St Michaels Road and West Hill Road in Bournemouth.

The measures follow a significant landslip on October 19, 2024, which damaged 16 beach huts on the promenade.

From Thursday June 4, no parking, waiting, loading or unloading will be allowed in several areas while consultants and contractors carry out design and remedial works.

The restrictions are expected to remain in place until December 3, 2027, although the timescale could change depending on weather or additional work.

A temporary walkway will remain open at promenade level to allow people to pass around the cordoned area.

The council says the restrictions are needed for public safety and to prevent further impact on the cliff.
