Christchurch Town Council has appointed Councillor Maggie Fidler as mayor for the 2026–27 civic year.
The appointment was confirmed during a Mayor Making ceremony at Druitt Hall on May 13.
Councillor Sandra Prudom was also appointed as Deputy Mayor.
Outgoing mayor Councillor Viv Charrett reflected on her year in office and presented a £3,831 cheque to the Christchurch Carnival committee.
In her inaugural address, Mayor Fidler said she wanted to strengthen community engagement, improve awareness of the town council’s work and celebrate Christchurch’s heritage.
She also announced Christchurch International Scouting as her chosen charity for the year.
