Christchurch Baptist Church is opening the doors to its new £2.5 million Beacon Centre for a free community open day on Saturday May 23.
The event will run from 10am until 1pm at the new building on Bargates and will include family activities, a barbecue, face painting, refreshments, crafts and a bouncy castle.
Visitors will also be able to explore the new facilities for the first time following just over a year of construction work.
The centre will be officially opened by Maggie Fidler during one of her first public engagements as mayor.
Church minister Chris Brockway said the centre had been shaped with support from the local community and was intended as a space for the whole community to use for generations to come.
The Beacon Centre will continue to serve as the home of Christchurch Baptist Church, which has been based in Bargates for 151 years.
A thanksgiving and dedication service will also take place at 2pm, featuring an address by Andrew Ollerton, author of The Bible Course and a speaker at the Spring Harvest festivals.
