Police investigate Boscombe beach incident

An investigation is underway after a woman reported being raped on Boscombe beach last night.

Dorset Police said officers received a report at around 10pm on Thursday 7 May 2026 alleging that a man had raped a woman on the beach. Detectives are now carrying out enquiries and working with the victim to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police confirmed specialist officers are supporting the woman while enquiries continue in the Boscombe area. Officers have also placed a cordon at the scene to allow forensic and investigative work to take place as part of the ongoing investigation.

There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are carried out. Dorset Police said officers will remain visible in Boscombe as detectives continue gathering evidence and speaking with the victim.

No arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.

The force said enquiries remain ongoing and officers are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the reported incident on the beach late on Thursday night.
