BCP Council is proposing a new traffic-controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction of Richmond Park Road and Springbourne Roundabout in Bournemouth.
Councillors say the crossing would improve safety for families, schoolchildren, cyclists and pedestrians travelling to nearby schools, parks, gyms and the football ground.
Queen’s Park and Charminster ward councillor Alasdair Keddie described the junction as dangerous and said he had witnessed numerous near misses.
Fellow ward councillor Sharon Carr-Brown said the crossing would become part of a wider walking and cycling route through the area.
Residents can comment on the proposals until 22 May through the council’s consultation process.
