The leader of the BCP Conservative Group, John Beesley, has criticised how wards for the new Bournemouth Town Council were decided.
He claims the boundaries were agreed “behind closed doors” and did not follow the usual independent review process.
Cllr Beesley said he was uncomfortable with decisions being made quickly without the level of scrutiny typically seen in Boundary Commission reviews.
However, BCP Council says the process was lawful and followed national guidance, adding that the Boundary Commission has no role in community governance reviews.
The council also said the proposals were debated by councillors and a cross-party group as part of a transparent democratic process.
