Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging the public to take care this summer as wildfire incidents continue to increase.
Figures show fires in the open more than doubled from 510 in 2023 to 1,040 in 2025, with some believed to be deliberately started.
Major incidents last year included a large blaze at Holt Heath near Wimborne, which destroyed around 72 hectares of land.
Fire crews are working with Dorset Police and other partners to tackle deliberate fire setting and protect vulnerable environments.
Officials are urging people to stay vigilant, act responsibly outdoors and report any suspicious behaviour or fires immediately.
