Concerns have been raised about continuing data breaches at Dorset Council, with suggestions incidents may be increasing.
Many of the breaches are described as minor, including emails being sent to the wrong recipients or addresses being shared without using blind copy.
An independent member of the council’s audit and governance committee warned the issue could point to a wider cultural problem and called for a more systematic approach.
Committee chairman Gary Suttle said the situation was “disappointing” and highlighted the need to improve internal procedures.
Council officers say a recent rise in reported breaches may be linked to new software identifying more incidents, which they hope will help staff learn and reduce errors over time.
