A specialist accessible toilet in Bournemouth has been փակ after repeated vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
BCP Council confirmed the Changing Places facility in the Lower Gardens has suffered thousands of pounds worth of damage in recent months.
The toilet includes additional space and equipment such as a hoist and adult changing bench, supporting people with severe disabilities who cannot use standard accessible toilets.
The council says it has taken the “difficult decision” to keep the facility closed while it reviews safer access options. The previous Radar key system has also been removed.
Campaigners say the closure will have a significant impact on disabled people and their families.
PAMIS has urged the council to prioritise reopening the facility as soon as possible, warning that without it many people may be unable to visit the town centre.
The nearest alternative Changing Places toilet is currently located at the Marsham Court Hotel.
