Chamber sets out plans for growth push

Plans are being introduced to strengthen business support and expand networking opportunities across Bournemouth.

The Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce has confirmed a new board alongside a renewed focus on developing specialist groups, including a digital growth network, which will sit alongside existing health and wellbeing, arts in business and next generation groups.

The organisation will continue its full calendar of events and networking opportunities while introducing additional formats such as breakfast meetings, building on BH Banter sessions that already bring members together and encourage collaboration across different parts of the local economy.

President Nigel Hedges said the Chamber provides both connections and guidance, explaining: “The Chamber is not just about networking but is also about giving advice,” adding that access to expertise could be vital as businesses respond to new taxes and wider economic pressures.

He also highlighted plans to increase youth involvement, pointing to younger members already joining the board and saying the aim is to “set the Chamber up for a successful future” by encouraging more people to take on roles.

The Chamber, established in 1916, says it will continue working with partners including the council and Dorset Chamber, using its connections to support members while expanding networks and encouraging former members to return.
