Parking charges have been introduced across New Forest car parks from today.
Forestry England says the new system will apply to 129 car parks, with income used to support ongoing work maintaining and protecting the forest, while Hampshire County Council is also introducing a parking ban on 116 nearby roads.
Charges will range from £1.50 for 1 hour to £8 for stays over 4 hours, with tickets transferable between Forestry England sites, and payment available through the RingGo app, online or by phone, with drivers able to pay later the same day.
A 15 minute grace period will be in place before charges apply, allowing time for short stays or if drivers cannot find a space, while annual memberships costing £96 will provide unlimited ‘free’ parking across all Forestry England sites nationwide.
