Bournemouth extend unbeaten run at Newcastle

AFC Bournemouth made it thirteen Premier League games unbeaten with a two one win at Newcastle this afternoon.

Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing from close range after Rayan broke forward down the left and picked him out, continuing a strong attacking spell that had already seen chances created through Ryan Christie and Marcos Senesi.

The visitors held their lead into the break thanks in part to a sharp save from Đorđe Petrović, before Newcastle responded in the second half, eventually levelling through Will Osula after a lengthy VAR check overturned an offside decision.

Bournemouth responded with a decisive late move as Evanilson rose to meet Tavernier’s cross and directed the ball into Adrien Truffert’s path, with the defender firing home from close range to secure the win five minutes from time.

Petrović produced another key save late on to protect the lead, as Andoni Iraola’s side claimed a second successive top flight victory at St James’ Park.
