The MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole is calling for new housing developments to include guaranteed GP provision.
Liberal Democrat Vikki Slade has launched a campaign urging that new or expanded GP surgeries are delivered alongside new homes.
She says the move is needed to ease pressure on existing services, with demand continuing to rise.
Analysis from the party suggests GP surgeries in Dorset are now serving nearly 18 per cent more homes than in 2015.
Concerns have also been raised about patients facing long waits for appointments, with some reporting delays of several days.
Under the proposed plan, developers would be required to fund new GP facilities and ensure services are in place as residents move into new homes.
The campaign forms part of a wider “infrastructure-first” approach to development.
Ms Slade said while new homes are needed, they must be supported by services such as healthcare to meet growing demand.
She warned that without action, pressure on GP surgeries could continue to increase, leading to longer waiting times for patients.
