Tesco Easter scheme supports local families

Tesco customers in Bournemouth are being encouraged to support families during the Easter holidays.

Shoppers can purchase pre packed donation bags at larger Tesco stores in and around the town between 30 March and 12 April to help provide food for households facing financial difficulties.

The bags contain long life food items and will be distributed through charities FareShare and Trussell to help families during the school break when some children miss out on free school meals.

The initiative forms part of Tesco’s wider support for communities, which also includes its Fruit and Veg for Schools programme offering grants to schools with higher levels of free school meals.

Claire De Silva from Tesco said holiday periods can be difficult for families who rely on school meal provision and the donation bags will provide a boost of food support.

Trussell says foodbank use remains 45% higher than before the pandemic, with families with children receiving 62% of food parcels during 2025.

Tesco also redistributes unsold food from Bournemouth stores through its Community Food Connection programme to support local charities and community groups.
