£750million investment for BCP towns

Ongoing investment is helping reshape town centres across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole this year.

More than £750million is being invested across the area, supporting job creation, new businesses and improvements to public spaces, while Bournemouth has seen over 30 new businesses open since the start of 2025, alongside continued office growth in the town centre.

Visitor numbers are also increasing, with millions of trips made to town centres each month and returning visitors more than doubling year on year, reflecting growing confidence in the area and continued activity across retail, leisure and hospitality.

Councillor Millie Earl said towns are evolving as consumer habits change, with national retail closures affecting high streets, but added the council is working with partners to bring empty units back into use and support “more varied and vibrant high streets”.

New High Street Rental Auction powers introduced in late 2025 will allow action on long term vacant properties, helping ensure unused spaces are returned to the market and supporting independent businesses, co working spaces and community focused uses across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
