Kitchen upgrade boost for Wimborne centre

A kitchen upgrade in Wimborne will help expand support for families and community activities.

The Allendale Centre has secured more than £4,800 to improve its café facilities, with funding coming from the Hendy Foundation and £2,000 raised by Wimborne Cricket Club during its end of season awards event.

The new oven will allow the centre to prepare a broader range of freshly made meals, helping support after school sessions and increasing the number of people who can access food and community support at the site.

Rebecca Hendy said it was encouraging to see organisations “galvanise their own supporters”, adding the funding will make a “real and lasting impact” for those using the centre and strengthen support for charities across the south coast.

Carole Chedgy from the centre said the upgrade will widen what the café can offer, including “nutritious meals” and familiar options, while also making it easier for staff and volunteers to support families and young people attending activities.
