Shakespeare comedy tour comes to town
A fast paced comedy based on every Shakespeare play will be staged in Poole this April.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare abridged will be performed at Lighthouse Poole from 21 to 25 April, with a 2026 version of the long running stage comedy that condenses all 37 plays into a single performance.
Created by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, the production takes audiences on a comic journey through the Bard’s works, presenting a rapid fire sequence of scenes and sketches inspired by Shakespeare’s best known stories and characters.
The cast of 4 performers includes Efé Agwele, Woogie Jung, Tom Pavey and Kiran Raywilliams, with the show directed by Adam Long and featuring set and costume design by Liz Cooke, lighting by Alexandra Stafford and movement direction by Amy Lawrence.
The Reduced Shakespeare Company began in the 1980s as a street theatre troupe in San Francisco, performing shortened versions of plays including Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet at Renaissance Faires.
Their breakthrough production premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1987 before touring internationally and later running in London’s West End for 9 years, with the show also holding a Guinness World Record for the longest running Shakespeare play in the West End with 3744 performances.
