Cherries held to stalemate by Brentford

Bournemouth were forced to settle for a goalless home draw against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The Cherries produced some of the better openings at the Vitality Stadium, with Marcus Tavernier striking the left post twice in the second half and testing goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher with a low effort just before the interval.

James Hill headed narrowly over from close range following a corner, while Alex Scott and Ryan Christie both tried their luck from distance as the home side pushed to turn pressure into a decisive moment.

Brentford also threatened, with Kevin Schade heading over from inside the 6 yard box and Sepp van den Berg forcing a save from Djordje Petrovic, who later denied Dango Ouattara to preserve the clean sheet.

Substitutes Junior Kroupi, Amine Adli and Enes Ünal were introduced as Bournemouth searched for a winner, but despite late tension and 2 yellow cards in added time, the match ended 0-0 and both sides claimed a point.
