BCP Council is planning to deliver £4.1M in savings from parking, leisure and entertainment services in 2026 and 2027.
The proposals were reviewed by the overview and scrutiny board on Monday before being presented to cabinet and full council.
Members examined each section of the savings plan separately to assess the potential impact on residents. Parking charges are set to increase by an average of four per cent, with the council also looking at ways to strengthen enforcement. Leisure fees are being aligned with growth in local provision, while entertainment and catering charges are due to rise in response to demand.
Chief operating officer Glynn Barton said the authority wants to ensure it is providing residents with a good service where they are directly paying for it.
Councillors also discussed funding for the Arts By the Sea festival and were told support has been secured. Questions were raised about staffing reductions and pay and display machines, with officers confirming machines will be covered once they stop working rather than removed.
The committee supported the recommendations and agreed an additional review of next year’s budget consultation wording.
