Poole Library has closed temporarily after ceiling damage and water entered part of the building.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council confirmed the closure at the Kingland Road site after a partial ceiling collapse and water ingress in the entrance area, linked to recent storm conditions affecting the area.
The closure follows a similar incident at Charminster Library, which shut on December 22 after a partial ceiling collapse. The council has said Charminster Library is expected to reopen in February once safety checks and necessary work have been completed.
Residents who usually use Poole Library are being directed to alternative locations while the building remains closed. The nearest libraries offering services are Oakdale Library and Parkstone Library, with full details of sites available through the council’s library listings.
Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for libraries, said safety remains the priority for residents and staff while the situation is assessed and next steps are determined. He added that access to library services remains available elsewhere during the closure.
