Plans for a block of 13 flats in Poole are set to be approved by councillors despite thirty five objections from residents, local groups and council officers.
The proposal would see the demolition of the existing building at Buccleuch Road and its replacement with a four storey block of flats, increasing the scale of a scheme that already had outline approval.
Permission was granted in 2023 for ten flats, with one of the four storeys partly below ground, meaning only three levels would have been visible from outside.
The revised plans add three more flats and bring all four storeys above ground, although changes were later submitted to include curved terraces, a recessed top floor and a relocated vehicle access onto Buccleuch Road.
All of the flats would have access to either shared garden space or private balconies, with privacy measures required through obscure glazed screening.
Objections have raised concerns about height, massing, design, loss of privacy, noise and the impact on the character of the area, with further criticism over disabled access and biodiversity requirements.
Despite this, planning officers have recommended approval subject to conditions and an updated legal agreement.
BCP Council’s western planning committee is due to consider the application at a meeting on January 16.
