Homecare clients gain 24/7 GP access
Older people across the region will now have access to round-the-clock GP appointments thanks to a new service from GoodOaks Homecare.
The company has launched its complimentary GoodOaks Virtual GP platform, powered by Doctor Care Anywhere, giving clients 24-hour access to healthcare professionals via secure video or telephone consultations.
The move comes after polling revealed that 58 per cent of GoodOaks clients worry about getting a GP appointment, while 64 per cent find phoning for one stressful. Four in ten said delays had negatively affected their wellbeing.
Ben Ashton from GoodOaks Homecare said the initiative was designed to reduce stress and ensure clients receive timely support. “Our polling highlights just how challenging it can be to get an appointment when you need one,” he said. “That’s why we’re delighted to offer this innovative new service as part of our commitment to providing outstanding, responsive and forward-thinking care.”
The research also showed that 60 per cent of clients find it helpful to have a care professional present during an appointment. The new system makes it easier for carers to join consultations, improving communication between healthcare teams.
Alongside GoodOaks’ digital health monitoring system, which tracks early signs of changes in wellbeing, the Virtual GP is another step in delivering personalised, technology-enabled care for clients across the network.
The service is available to all GoodOaks Homecare clients at no extra cost.
